“You have to learn to combine speed and accuracy”
Those were the words spoken to me by my grade 10 math teacher, and given the challenges and pressure that most people find themselves currently under, these words have more meaning today than they did way back then in my math class.

During a normal day, we are bombarded with so much information, countless requests for our time, and on-the-fly communications (texting, social media etc.), that we often find ourselves lost as to where to focus our time and attention.

Learning skills that will help you combine speed and accuracy will help you manage and thrive when requests are coming at you faster than you can handle. Here are some of those skills.

Distraction Control

Remove those distractions. Often those little distractions come at us frequently during our day, which in turn, cause us to lose focus, impacting our ability to work accurately and quickly. Make a list of the things that distract you during your day, and just stop doing one of them. You will be surprised by the positive impact this will have on your ability to work quickly and accurately.

Focus

Lack of focus is frequently talked about in the media, and with good reason. We live in a culture where most people, struggle to stay focused. When you feel your focus is slipping, simply slow down what you are doing. Sounds counter intuitive, but doing this teaches the brain how to focus on the task at hand, which in turn, increases your ability to work fast.

Quest for Consistency

When you remove distractions and improve your focus, your ability to be consistent greatly improves. Higher quality work and an accelerated work pace will become your new “normal”.

The ability to combine speed and accuracy will ensure you produce great work and meet your tight deadlines.

All the best in achieving your highest performance.
